Description
Beautiful peach-pink blossoms are one of a kind! Attractive enough for flower gardens or patios, but this one is in a class by itself with luminous peach to shell-pink blossoms – absolutely unique! Vines to 6′ (2m) or so, covered with cascades of runner bean pods, equally wonderful whether used as snaps fresh, canned or frozen, or as shell beans. Can also be used as a dry bean. Lovely edible landscaping!
A very early variety that produces high yields of light-green pods on sturdy, 6-foot long vines. Plant directly into rich, fast draining soil in spring after the soil has warmed. Sow 1″ (2.5 cm) deep and 2-4″ (10 cm) apart in rows 18-24″ apart. Soaking 1-2 hours prior to planting will speed germination. Thin when seedlings emerge 6″ (15 cm) apart.
Pick often to keep plants productive; when harvesting immature pods you encourage new blooms to form. An interesting fact about runner beans is that they twine clockwise where pole beans go counter clockwise. Use as a fresh vegetable with its edible flowers and pods or as an ornamental climber.

They were ready later in the season than my other beans this year, which was a nice staggered harvest surprise. Beautiful to look at and delicious!!

Why grow those other climbing flowers when all they do is flower and not provide any food? I would rather grow these than sweet peas (I know they’re not fragrant, but they are prettier) and had better success with them. They flowered all summer and produced lots of beans and the dried beans are the prettiest things you have ever seen, I promise! Hipumminbirds and pollinators loved them.
You will not regret growing these! I love the color of them and will never have a garden without them from now on. So glad Kat introduced me to them!
