The meaty interior has similar opulent shades and an incomparable, almost indescribably complex and rich flavor to match. The fruit are perfect and smooth with no cracks. The flavor is absolutely sublime, having all the richness of fine chocolate.

Russian name: Японский трюфель The name means ‘Japanese Trifele Black’ in Russian.

The meaty interior has similar opulent shades and an incomparable, almost indescribably complex and rich flavor to match. The fruit are perfect and smooth with no cracks. The flavor is absolutely sublime, having all the richness of fine chocolate. The plants produce loads of fruit all summer long. It has become a favorite with many seed savers.

First offered in the Seed Savers 1999 Yearbook.  One of the best Russian black tomatoes. High yields of blemish-free fruits that rarely crack. Rich full flavor, great for canning too!

Harvest when shoulders are still green for best flavor. Potato-leafed. Indeterminate. Organically grown. 80-85 days.

Plants are available in spring for those who don’t have the time or space to start from seed.
