Katherine Granger is a Master Gardener, creator of Seeds of IMBOLC in Fergus; a grower of heirloom organic seeds, plants & flower-farmer-florist. As an instructor with the U.G.D.S.B Continuing Ed, held engaging workshops focusing on sustainability and our intrinsic connection with nature. Kat has been featured on the Cogeco cable TV show “Let’s Get Growing” several times, featured in OMAFRA produce videos, spoken at Canada Blooms, Pollination Guelph Symposium, many Horticultural Societies & many other venues. Saturday February 15th 1-3pm: This 'SlowLiving Series' of fun & informative workshops is provided to reconnect to nature, your roots, food & beauty. This workshop is for those who would love some 'hands on' beginner lessons in sourdough bread. Come to my kitchen and see how I bake a delicious, whole grain sourdough loaf - from beginning to end. Take home recipes, knowledge & some sourdough starter to get you going. A class for beginners. Live more sustainably, more connected, slower, deeper. We will start off with an overview of the farm, with an inside/outside tour, weather permitting. We will be working with flour, mixers and hot pots & ovens. Not for young children. You will be more confident & armed with some fundamental knowledge of whats needed to start baking your very own bread!  Enjoy the entire process, flour to loaf. Light refreshments will be provided.

Dahlias are my specialty - come create with our stunning dahlias & learn the art of crafting a sumptuous naturally stunning centrepiece, with the freshest summer blooms, harvested right at the farm. Foam & chemical free floristry. If you have a wedding or event coming up in your future this would be a wonderful time to learn this timeless technique. You will create some floral magic yourself.  No experience necessary for this fun, relaxing workshop. Let the floral creativity begin! We will start off with a tour of the farm, which is normally closed to the public, answering your questions & seeing where & how the in-season flowers grow. A lovely time to enjoy being at the farm, surrounded by beautiful flowers and good company. After an in depth demonstration, participants will craft their own floral masterpieces in an attractive vessel to take home. This is a single admission to join a 2.5 hour workshop with flower farmer Katherine Granger. Learn about the dahlias we grow and how to pick and care for them, and then you'll be free to wander & pick whatever you'd like (really!) You will hands-on create a beautiful arrangement, start to finish, to take home with you. Hands-on learning experience, showcasing locally and sustainably grown elements. Explore your own style within the framework of guidelines demonstrated in these hands-on floral workshops and to ask questions about planting a flower garden of your own. All classes are held at our flower farm in Centre Wellington Ontario. Upon registration, you will receive detailed information on how to find the farm. Workshop purchases are non-refundable. If the workshop does not reach a minimum of 5 participants, it may be cancelled in which case you will be fully refunded. No refunds or transfers are offered for students who can not make it after registeringIn case of severe weather, the class may be rescheduled or cancelled. Saturday March 29th 1-3pm: This 'SlowLiving Series' of fun & informative workshops is provided to reconnect to nature, your roots, food & beauty. Learn about soil blocking, grow lights, heat mats, fertilization and so much more. Plant your own seeds now and come transplant at the April/May workshop to take home to your garden later. Saturday May 3rd 1-3pm: This 'SlowLiving Series' of fun & informative workshops is provided to reconnect to nature, your roots, food & beauty.You do not have to take #1 to enjoy workshop #2. Live more sustainably, more connected, slower, deeper. We will start off with an overview of the farm, with an inside/outside tour, weather permitting. We will be working with plant babies, seeds & blooms.Transplant your seedling started at workshop #1 (if you attended but not necessary) at the April/May workshop to take home to your garden. A continuation of learning about growing your own food & flowers, how, what, when & whys. We will discuss flowers as well as food & everything involved. You will be more confident & armed with knowledge based on years of experience to head into the growing season! Enjoy the entire process, seed to plate/vase.  Light refreshments will be provided. Some of the topics covered: seed starting, soil blocking, supplies needed, heat mats, grow lights, soils, fertilization, early starts, etc
