Chrysanthemum Rooted Cuttings

Heritage Chrysanthemums can be difficult to source. Our cuttings are rooted and taken from our own Mother plants in early spring.

Mums have gotten a bad reputation over the years for being common and boring, but the old chrysanthemum breeds are anything but boring! These heirloom varieties come in an incredible array of colours, shapes, and forms. Not only are they exquisite, but they also peak at a time of year when most of the garden is going to sleep. They are the very last hurrah of the flower season.

I do not ship plants so pick up only is offered, here in Fergus Ontario.

Once plants are ready for pick up I will email you at the address provided on your order so please be sure it is correct and you monitor your email!

Usually pick up is in March/ April. Always monitor for aphids.

The cuttings should be grown on cool. I have them in the unheated greenhouse. Pinch after 3-5 sets of leaves. I grow outside in large pots until frost threatens then bring them into the greenhouse to protect the flower buds from frost.

The early varieties may have time to bloom outside before frost but definitely not the later varieties. Frost protection is necessary for lovely blooms. Staking is necessary for straight stems.

Plant ‘stools’ are taken in for winter, stored frost free and cuttings taken early the next season.
