Bueno Mulata Hot Pepper

PLANTS ARE PICK UP ONLY –

A rare, extremely productive, stunning hot pepper! Buena Mulata is a long, pointed, violet-colored Cayenne that is startlingly beautiful and packs high voltage flavor along with its heat. The long, round pods measure as much as 6 to 7 ” undergoing a flavor change as they ripen. Like a chameleon, ripening violet to pinkish-flesh color, then orange changing to brown, and eventually to a deep red. The reds being sweeter and meatier than the violets. A stunning plant, with its purple streaked leaves and fruits. Grows well in pots.
Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost and transplant into garden well after the danger of frost. Days to maturity: 75-80

I crushed up my dried peppers and made the most delicious powdered “cayenne pepper” I have ever tasted!

According to my research, Buena Mulata is 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville Units, but I did not find them too crazy hot, just perfect. The heat is comparable to a Cayenne.
When a man named Wilbur Scoville first devised a means to test the heat of peppers, his hottest entry then came in at 20,000 units. Habanero and Thai chilies can go as high as 60,000. Compare that to the sweet bell pepper at zero.
