Description

Miniature black eyed susans, borne in airy sprays. Butterflies enjoy the nectar & birds, the seeds. Blooming nonstop summer through fall, great for wildflower gardens. Circa 1699 RHS Award of Garden Merit and Georgia Gold Medal winner. Wiry, well-branched stems have few leaves, making this an excellent cut flower.  Tolerates most conditions, including drought, once established.

SOWING: Sow 5-7 weeks before last frost. Cover seed lightly (1/64″). For best results, moist prechill for 30 days, then move to a warmth until emergence. Direct seed – Gently press seed into soil as soon as soil can be worked in early spring or fall. Pinching not required. Reseeds. Sun/Part Shade, HEIGHT: 48-60″. SPACING: 18-24″. HARDINESS ZONES: Zones 3-9. VASE LIFE: 10-14 days. Harvest when flowers are beginning to open, and expect a vase life of 7-10 days. Can make water murky -to extend vase life, add a few drops of bleach to the water or use CVBN tablests.
