Sumo Snow Pea

$4.95

A delicious very large snow pea. I came across this variety quite a few years ago and have been hanging onto it and sharing. Great variety! Large edible pods, pretty edible blooms. Snow peas are eaten pod and all, fresh or can be stir fried. Climber – provide support.

Step-by-Step Guide to Planting Peas
1. Prepare Your Soil: Begin with soil that drains well. Mix in some finished compost to boost nutrients and help your plants thrive.
2. Planting: Peas do best in cool weather. As soon as the ground is workable in early spring, sow your seeds about 1.5 to 2 inches apart, in rows spaced 18 to 36 inches apart. Plant the seeds about half an inch to one inch deep. There’s no need to thin them out after planting.
3. Support Your Plants: Most pea varieties need something to climb as they grow. Set up a trellis or use a fence to give them support. If you’re growing dwarf peas, they don’t need a trellis, but you can stick a few twigs in the soil to help keep them upright.
4. Row Spacing: If you’re using a trellis, space your rows about 4 to 6 feet apart for best results.
Harvest Tips: Peas are most productive in the cooler parts of the season. You’ll get the best harvests in spring, while midsummer pickings may be smaller.
