Opalka Heirloom Paste Tomato – PLANT
Opalka Heirloom Paste Tomato – PLANT
The red fruits reach up to 6” elongated, tapering to blunt or sometimes pointed tips. Meaty with few seeds, and unlike most common paste tomatoes, ‘Opalka’ actually has a good flavour, making sauces and pastes even better. Expect copious yields of 3×5″ massive solid bull’s horn–shaped red fruits with dry texture. Also dries well. While some tomatoes falter during hot dry spells, Opalka produces consistently. This heirloom tomato is amazing to behold and difficult to find. If you grow tomatoes for paste, this is the one to grow. Polish heirloom brought by the Opalka family to Amsterdam, NY, around 1900. A shy seed producer, it consistently gets dropped for that reason by commercial enterprises, so we’re happy to be able to offer it! Tips- Plant in fertile soil, amended with compost, mulch and provide even moisture. Plant deeper than they were growing in the containers as it makes a stronger roots system. Do not apply excessive nitrogen, which can promote excessive foliage and poor fruit set. 82 days Open-pollinated. Indeterminate

Pea – ‘Blue Pod Capucijners’
Pea – ‘Blue Pod Capucijners’
The Blue-podded Capucijner (cap-ou-SIGH-nah) is a hardy pea first grown by the Franciscan Capuchin monks. Beautiful, bi-colour lilac/pink and wine-red/purple blooms, fading to blue as they wilt. Pods are deep inky purple/blue. Best used to make delicious, full-bodied soups.  An edible-podded sugar pea by harvesting before peas have developed.Great long term storage food.
Beautiful heirloom pea that is pretty enough to grow as an ornamental for the edible gardening fans, even if you don't like peas. The dark coloured pods really stand out against the background of the bright green leaves making them very easy to pick. It is a good choice for children and the elderly.
Approximately 30 seeds per packet. (read more below)

Pisum sativum (66 days) Open-pollinated. The Sumo cum laude of snow peas! Sumo is the best purple-flowered snow pea we’ve ever had. Its light lime-green pods are larger and fatter than Mammoth Melting Sugar’s and really sweet right off the vine as well as in stir-fries.
This amazing snow pea came to me via a Seeds of Diversity Grow out. They need to have seeds grown and returned to them to bulk up their seed bank and I get to keep a few and have now grown them out again to be able to offer some to you.

Pepper – ‘Doe Hill’
Pepper – ‘Doe Hill’
Capsicum annuum  A  rare family heirloom from Doe Hill area of Highland County, Virginia. This is without a doubt one of the very best peppers for short season areas, and definitely one of the tastiest! Just thinking of slicing into one of these small packages bursting with fresh sweet flavour makes my mouth water! The small round lobed peppers are the shape of old fashioned tomato peppers and turn a glorious gold at maturity or can be eaten green. They do not seem to cause indigestion like others can. very sweet and very productive. Rare and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. (60-65 days from transplant)

Pepper – Amish Pimiento
Pepper – Amish Pimiento
Amish Pimiento Sweet Pepper Capsicum annuum (85 days) Open-pollinated. Pimientos are the sweetest of all peppers—my favorite!
Productive and fairly early, thick-walled and crunchy – these compact 1-2’ plants pump out lots of these wonderful fruits.
Amish Pimiento plants are compact and sturdy, producing heavy crops of squat, round, 2 by 4” (5 by 10 cm) fruit that ripen from green to bright red. Its peppers are fleshy and apple-sweet, excellent for both fresh eating, drying and pickling.

Pepper – Black Hungarian
Pepper – Black Hungarian
(Capsicum annuum) Beautifully bold and decidedly sweet…
There’s a drama to the Hungarian black pepper that’s 100% its own. Its dark-hued skin turns to a rich jewel tone red as it ages, and it delivers a certain sweetness at maturity quite unlike other chilies in its heat range. This is a chili that fits both form and function, working beautifully as both an ornamental pepper and a culinary chili.
