Palm-sized blooms on this pink beauty are reminiscent of sea anemones. An abundance of slim string-like petals burst from the centre of each flower creating a billowy plume of colour. Large flowers can reach 3½ – 5½”  across and are supported on long stems, making this an extraordinary cut flower.  I fell in love instantly. Treat yourself with late summer bouquets, you will not be disappointed. Also known as Needle or Chinese Aster, summer aster. Ht. 26–36″   Remove faded flowers to encourage more blooms.

SOWING:Transplant (recommended) – Sow 1/8″ deep Don’t bury seeds too deeply; lightly cover with soil or vermiculite.   6-8 weeks before last frost. Establish plantings early to avoid short stems. Water regularly.
Direct seed – After your last frost date and when soil temperature is 65-70°F (18-21°C). Days to Germination 10-14 days at 70-72°F (21-22°C)  Provide support.
Pinching not required. Amend soil with compost before transplanting.
Harvest when the outer petals on the flowers begin to open. Immediately after harvest, strip foliage off the lower half of the stem and place into water. With flower food, expect a vase life of up to 2 weeks.
