Description
Pinks will attract butterflies and bees and are deer resistant. They do very well in average to rich, well-drained soils in full sun with little moisture—great for borders and drier areas, such as rock gardens. Winter killed stems can be pruned away in springtime. Once established, only need to water during especially prolonged dry periods. .

These lovely fringed flowers will re-bloom if cut back after the first flush of flowers.
The name “pinks” is in reference to the fringed flower petals, which look as though they have been cut with pinking shears, which have a serrated blade and are used to cut fabric in a zigzag pattern in an effort to prevent fraying.
