Cousins of the hottest peppers on the planet, Biquinho barely registers on the Scoville Scale,  delightful citrusy-sweetness with depth well beyond the bell pepper. Though mostly a sweet pepper, a tinge of heat arrives with the sweetness, dissipating as quickly as it arrives.

The fully ripened yellow fruit will have the most sweetness and flavour, though the small green fruit, about the size of your thumbnail, can be enjoyed fresh and pickled, as well.

The name of this Brazilian pepper means “little beak,” and it will add a kiss of flavour to any dish you cook with it. Bright red, 1″ pods taper to a point, with a distinctive smoky flavor & a rich fruitiness that is enhanced by sugar or sweet-and-sour marinades. It also makes the perfect garnish for barbecues and pickles.

The 2.5′ bushes should be spaced 18″ apart. Also locally known as “chupetinho.”

Growing Tips: Start indoors in bright light 8-12 weeks before last frost date. Heat mat helps to warm soil and speed germination. Peppers often appreciate a bit of afternoon shade during the hottest summer weather.
