Callistephus chinensis Double & semi-double, 2 1/2–3″ light apricot blooms .Easy to grow flower!
Each vigorous plant is loaded with dozens of glowing pale peachy-pink blooms with a warm creamy yellow tone which are perfect for flower arranging and wedding work. Plants are tall and productive & petals are only slightly curled. Very long vase life! 7 – 10+ days with flower food.
A must-have for any flower cutting garden! Unique addition to bouquets. Large flowers are supported on long stems, making this an extraordinary cut flower. The first time I grew this type of aster I fell in love instantly. Treat yourself with late summer bouquets, you will not be disappointed. Ht. 26–36″ Remove faded flowers to encourage more blooms.
SOWING: Transplant (recommended) – Sow 1/8″ deep Don’t bury seeds too deeply; lightly cover with soil or vermiculite. 6-8 weeks before last frost. Establish plantings early to avoid short stems.
Direct seed – After your last frost date and when soil temperature is 65-70°F (18-21°C). Days to Germination 10-14 days at 70-72°F (21-22°C) Provide support. Pinching not required.
Water seedlings regularly until established. Amend soil with compost before transplanting. PLANT SPACING: 6-12″, Annual, Days to maturity: 110-120 days
Harvest when the outer petals on the flowers begin to open. Immediately after harvest, strip foliage off the lower half of the stem and place into water. With flower food, expect a vase life of up to 2 weeks. For Dried flowers harvest when blooms are fully open.
Keep seeds refrigerated before planting for better germination.
